pinGoal ("pinGoal", "we", "us", or "our") is an independently developed goal-tracking mobile app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the pinGoal iOS app and related services.
pinGoal is operated by an individual developer. If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at[email protected].
Who can use pinGoal
pinGoal is intended for users aged 13 and older. It is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at[email protected] and we will delete it. If you are under 18, you should use pinGoal only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive a user identifier and an email address from the provider. If you use Sign in with Apple, you may choose Apple's private email relay, in which case we receive a relay address rather than your personal email. Before you sign in, your account may exist as an anonymous account tied to your app installation.
- Content you create. The goal boards, goals, future letters, diary entries, and related content you create in the app are stored so we can provide the service across your sessions and devices. This includes photos you choose to attach to a diary entry and video recordings you choose to record for a future letter, which are stored privately and are accessible only to your account.
- Notification tokens and check-in timing. If you enable notifications, we store a push notification token so we can deliver reminders and future-letter notifications. We also store when your most recently active registered app installation last contacted pinGoal, together with its time zone and app language, to decide when and how to send enabled weekly check-ins.
- Subscriptions and purchases. If you subscribe to Future Club, your purchase is processed by the App Store, and we use RevenueCat to manage the subscription and confirm your membership status. We receive purchase and subscription information (such as which product you bought and whether the subscription is active) linked to your account identifier. We never receive or store your payment card details.
- Usage and device analytics. We collect app usage events and basic device/app information (such as app version, event interactions including notification taps, and startup timing and visual-readiness outcomes) to understand how the app is used and improve it. We also store the number of pinGoal widgets currently detected on your device, how many have a card selected, and when that check occurred. We store those widget values against the account identifier for your current signed-in or anonymous session. Where you have signed in, we also link product analytics to your account identifier for product-analysis segmentation.
- Crash and diagnostic data. If the app encounters an error or crash, we collect diagnostic information such as crash logs so we can diagnose and fix problems. If you submit a bug report, we also record technical context about your app and device at that moment — the app version and build, your platform and operating system version, your screen size, your app language, and whether you are a Future Club member — so we can reproduce the problem. We do not record your device's name or model.
- Support communications. If you email us, we receive the information you choose to include.
pinGoal does not contain third-party advertising and does not sell your personal information.
How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and sync your goal boards and future letters.
- To send notifications and future-letter emails you have set up or enabled.
- To understand usage, fix problems, and improve the app.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To protect the security and integrity of the service.
Service providers we share data with
We use the following third-party services to operate pinGoal. Each processes data only as needed to provide its function:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and storage of your account and content.
- PostHog — product analytics (processed in the United States).
- Expo — delivery of push notifications and app updates.
- Resend — sending transactional and future-letter emails.
- Apple and Google — sign-in / authentication.
- Apple App Store and RevenueCat — processing and managing Future Club subscriptions and purchases (RevenueCat is processed in the United States).
- Sentry — crash and error monitoring (mobile app diagnostics and our server-side functions; processed in the United States).
- Cloudflare — domain and web hosting infrastructure.
If you choose to share content from pinGoal to another app (for example, Instagram or Facebook Stories), that sharing is handled by the other app and is governed by that company's privacy policy.
If you send us a feature request from Settings, we store it in our own database alongside your account identifier and the app language you were using. We read every request and publish only a selected few to the in-app list, rewritten in our own words — your original text is never shown to other users, and no author name is ever displayed. Your upvotes are stored the same way and are shown only as a total count.
If you submit a bug report from Settings, we store your description in our own database alongside your account identifier, the app language you were using, and the technical context described above. You may attach up to three screenshots, which are stored privately and are never shown to other users. Bug reports are never published anywhere in the app, and you cannot read them back — they go only to us. If you delete your account, any screenshots you attached are deleted and the report text is kept without any link to you.
International data transfers
Our service providers may store and process information in the United States and other countries. By using pinGoal, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own.
Data retention
We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.
Website waitlist
This section covers only the email addresses collected through the waitlist form that pingoal.app used to publish before the app was released. That form has been removed and the site no longer collects email addresses, but the addresses already given to us are still held, and this section governs them. It applies whether or not you ever use the app, and nothing else in this policy describes it.
- What we collected. The email address you typed and the preferred language reported by your browser. We recorded the language so that we could write your launch email in it.
- Why. To email you once, when pinGoal launches. We do not send anything else to this address, and we do not sell or share the list.
- Who processes it. Supabase stores the address. Cloudflare checks that the form was submitted by a person and not a bot (Cloudflare Turnstile); that check reads technical signals from your browser and does not receive your email address.
- It is not linked to an app account. Joining the waitlist creates no account, and the list is not joined to any app data.
- How long we keep it. Until we have emailed you about the launch, and in any case no longer than 24 months from the day you submitted it. If we have not launched by then, we delete it.
- Removing it. Email[email protected] at any time and we will delete your address from the list.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account. If you have signed in, you can delete your account and associated data from within the app's Settings. If you use pinGoal without signing in (an anonymous account), email[email protected] to request deletion.
- Notifications. You can turn notifications on or off in the app or in your device settings.
- Access and other rights. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, contact[email protected].
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
